High blood pressure is the most important risk factor for heart disease. If your blood pressure stays within healthy levels, reduces the burden placed his heart, arteries and kidneys, which keeps you healthier longer.

High blood pressure, also called hypertension, means that blood flows through your arteries makes it too hard and puts pressure on your arteries, stretching them beyond the healthy limit and causing microscopic tears. Our body then begins to function in the way of healing from injury to repair these tears with scar tissue. But unfortunately the plaque and scar tissue traps white blood cells, which can become obstructions, blood clots and hardened arteries and weakened. If you keep your blood pressure at healthy levels:

1. Reduces the risk of the walls of blood vessels to stretch too much or being injured
2. Reduce the risk that your arteries are blocked, which also protects your heart and your brain
3. Protect your entire body so that tissues are regularly supplied with oxygen-rich blood it needs.

What is the cost of having high blood pressure?
The uncontrolled high blood pressure can cause injury or death. It is often called “silent murderer” because no symptoms. Approximately 90% of all people in the United States will develop hypertension during their lives and one in three adults has high blood pressure. However, many people do not even know it. The uncontrolled high blood pressure kills people and causes confusion and chaos in many lives because it is one of the causes of heart disease and stroke.

Blockages and blood clots mean that less blood reaches the vital organs and, without blood, the tissue dies. That’s why high blood pressure can cause stroke, heart attack, kidney failure and even heart failure.

What I can do to reduce my blood pressure?
Good news! High blood pressure can be controlled. So the pressure is high or normal (normal is if your systolic pressure is below 120 mm Hg and diastolic pressure below 80 mm Hg or <120/80) changes in the lifestyle that we list offer a great plan healthy life for us all. Furthermore, these changes can lower your pressure without resorting to prescription drugs:

eat a healthy diet, including reducing the amount of sodium,
regular physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight,
manage stress, limit alcohol and avoid smoke snuff.

If you’re around 40, you smoke, clouds stress and eat poorly, it’s time to stop the car a bit of your metabolism and begin to think about your diet and your health.

This is the most vulnerable age for the onset of hypertension, ie, the pressure exerted by blood on the walls of arteries. High blood pressure is a risk factor for having a heart attack or stroke, so we must start early to avoid some symptoms.

It is true that some people are predisposed to having high blood pressure or inherited specific physical conditions, but the advance of hypertension can be controlled or prevented (in people without bias) with these simple tips:

Have the proper weight: avoid high-fat diet and gradually start to eat low-fat products and more fruits and vegetables. Being in the right weight causes the body to make less effort to stand.

Reducing salt in foods and choose low salt products. Reduce consumption of cured meats, preserves, pickles or reduces the amount eaten per week. Remember that 3 grams of salt is what our body needs.

Replace salt with garlic, spices and dressings to spice up the dishes or consuming industrial salts that you recommend a nutritionist or doctor.

Perform daily physical exercise at least 30 minutes a day combined exercise or walk, best if you do a sport like swimming. This is to help maintain your weight and blood circulation.

Drink alcohol in moderation, the better the wine, which is the noblest spirit: remember no more than 2 drinks per day.
